Steinberg Nuendo 10 empowers professionals working in audio, live and post-production for the film, television, and media industry to higher levels of productivity. With a dedicated feature set that focuses on day-to-day production requirements like workflow, speed, versatility, and reliability.
Post-production editors, film mixers, live recording engineers around the world rely on the flexibility and industry openness that Nuendo provides.
The core concept of Steinberg Nuendo is consequently based around the most important topics in audio post-production: workflow, speed, versatility, and reliability.
Steinberg Nuendo offers a vast range of dedicated functions focused on post-production, studio production, and live recording. That underscores the reputation of Nuendo as one of the world’s most powerful audio production systems.
Nuendo 8 leads innovation in every aspect of audio-to-picture work. Providing unique features for game audio production, TV and film post-production workflows, Nuendo 8 provides more dedicated capabilities for these industries than any other audio software, ranging from integration with game middleware over re-conforming through to automatic dialog recording (ADR).
TV and film post-production
Representing the most advanced audio post-production software environment available today, Nuendo constantly reconfigures expectations of dedicated software for audio post. TV post-production requires fast, convenient handling of recurring production elements such as specific sounds, effects, or even Nuendo projects themselves.
Nuendo has everything on board to facilitate this workflow, including the ability to save clusters of audio clips for returning elements in a TV series, extensive batch rendering options, MediaBay content management system as well as post-production workflow-oriented editing features.
Nuendo is also the No.1 choice in audio-post for film production. By having the world’s most professional surround mixing console, VCA fader technology, a film-mixing automation system, extensive routing, and metering technologies on board, alongside a dedicated video player engine, Nuendo provides outstanding mixing results in studio-grade quality.
Steinberg Nuendo is the premier choice for game audio workflows as it seamlessly integrates with your game development environment. The industrial revolution is called “Game Audio Connect”. It represents a new toolset within Nuendo that enables a direct connection to Audiokinetic’s Wwise game audio middleware.
Voice recording and language dubbing are among the most frequently performed tasks in audio post-production. External dialog recording solutions are expensive, inflexible, and are not at all integrated into the DAW workflow. Nuendo boasts a complete dialog and foley recording solution making it easy to spot, record, and organize voice recordings for different roles/scenes.
Integration with Audiokinetic Wwise middleware
Instead of saving audio assets piece-by-piece on the hard-drive and importing them laboriously into Wwise later, Nuendo 8 saves you hours of work: Simply drag-and-drop audio files including customized naming conventions such as project name, folder path, and track name via Game Audio Connect towards Wwise, avoiding time-consuming minutiae of manually configuring the import and export dialogs.
This feature exports a freely selectable section of audio and MIDI files to a hard drive, either as separate events, as block events, or as one file. You can define exactly what the rendering process should take into account and what to ignore. In addition, the powerful naming scheme option lets you determine how the rendered audio files are named.
MediaBay and the VST Instrument Rack can now be displayed to the right side of the Project window. The result is the new Rack Zone with improved efficiency. That gives you more time to focus on your creative flow and reducing the number of open windows you need to manage.
Track List and Inspector
The redesigned Track List and Inspector now offer better readability. Track names are easier to find and the reduced set of track controls in the tracklist reduces clutter. And the new configuration tabs below the tracklist allow you to switch instantly between different track control configurations.
The VCA fader technology allows you to create a second mixing “layer” within the Nuendo MixConsole. VCA faders not only assist you in creating complex mixes for film and TV projects. They also enable more advanced automation workflows using the Combine VCA fader automation feature. Merge the automation curve of a VCA fader with the automation curve of a controlled fader or fader groups.
Multiband Expander allows you to modify the dynamic range of your tracks. Choose different settings for each one of the four available frequency bands independently to create a broader dynamic range or clearly reduce unwanted background noise. Multiband Expander also features a latency-free live mode that enables the use of the plug-in in a live environment.
Multiband Envelope Shaper
It assists you in bringing out the best in drum mixes, foley, and creative sound (re-) shaping tasks. This new plug-in splits the incoming audio material into a maximum of four frequency bands. It allows you to freely alter the attack and release characteristic of each band to rework the transient structure.
VST Bass Amp
Delivers a comprehensive collection of amps, cabs, and stompboxes that deliver classic crunchy rock tones or nuanced, creamy sounds – and beyond. VST Bass Amp comes with six amp models and four classic speaker cabinets recorded with eight different microphones and microphone positions to reproduce the unique character of the legendary originals.
