PanoramaStudio creates seamless 360-degree and wide-angle panoramic images. This app provides a comprehensive workflow for creating panoramic images, from stitching photos into seamless panoramas to advanced editing and post-processing. What's New in PanoramaStudio 4.2.0 Pro (2026-07-08):
With this latest version update, both the Standard and Pro versions are once again getting significant updates. Among other things, DNG export has been added in response to many requests.
As usual, you can find an overview of all the new features and functions on the Features page.
- DNG Export: The new DNG export allows panoramas to be saved in the DNG format.
- In addition to standard 16-bit DNG files, the PRO version can also export HDR panoramas as DNG files with 16-bit or 32-bit floating-point color depth.
- Significantly improved image alignment
- Image alignment is now significantly more reliable, even in difficult shooting situations.
- Performance has been greatly improved, especially for very large panoramas consisting of hundreds or thousands of images. Projects with more than 1,000 images, which previously could take several hours to process, are now typically aligned reliably within just a few minutes.
- Improved HDR image alignment PRO
- The automatic detection and grouping of exposure series has been further improved. In particular, HDR panoramas consisting of exposure series with five or more images are now detected automatically with significantly greater reliability and stitched together without the need for manual post-processing.
- Enhanced Grid Assistant PRO
- Images prearranged with the Grid Assistant are now aligned even more consistently.
- In addition, the Grid Assistant now includes a new option for strict overlap constraints. Possible image overlaps can be limited to a narrow range around the predefined overlap, allowing very large panoramas captured in a regular grid—such as those shot with a motorized panoramic head—to be aligned considerably faster and more accurately.
- Improved performance of interactive panoramas
- The restructured output for the PanoramaStudio Viewer provides a significant performance boost. Average loading times for interactive panoramas have been reduced by about 50%. In most cases, the initial view appears within just a fraction of a second, making the loading process virtually unnoticeable. The same applies to loading additional image data while zooming and panning.
- Interactive panoramas: JPEGli compression
- Image tiles for interactive panoramas can now optionally be compressed using JPEGli. Google’s modern JPEG encoder produces files that are up to 25% smaller while remaining fully compatible with all web browsers, resulting in even faster loading times.
- Optimized memory management during rendering
- Despite PanoramaStudio’s own memory management, rendering extremely large images could exceed the available RAM and virtual memory on some systems.
- The new version now handles such cases reliably even on systems with limited memory.
- The program’s icons have been redesigned and modernized.
- RAW import updated
- RAW support has been extended by another 25 camera models, bringing the total to more than 1,270 supported cameras. The optional highlight recovery during RAW import has also been further improved.
- The camera database now includes more than 2,900 cameras, drones, and smartphones, approximately 70 more than before.
- Improved support for DJI drones. Additional variants of DJI metadata are now recognized, resulting in more reliable image alignment.
