WinRAR – Compress, Encrypt, Package, and Backup with only one utility

WinRAR is a powerful archive manager for Windows, Linux, Mac, and Android. This is a powerful compression tool with many integrated additional functions to help you organize your compressed archives.

It can backup your data and reduce the size of email attachments, decompress RAR, ZIP, and other files downloaded from the Internet, and create new archives in RAR and ZIP file format. The archiver puts you ahead of the crowd when it comes to compression.

By consistently creating smaller archives, WinRAR is often faster than the competition. This will save you disc space, transmission costs, AND valuable working time as well. WinRAR is ideal for multimedia files. It automatically recognizes and selects the best compression method.

The special compression algorithm compresses multimedia files, executables, and object libraries particularly well. RAR files can usually compress content by 8% to 15% more than ZIP files can.

Changes in WinRAR 7.01:

Bugs fixed:

  • a) updating an encrypted file in a solid RAR archive produced a corrupt archive if the updated file was the first in the archive, no password was specified when starting updating, and file name encryption in the updated archive wasn’t enabled;
  • b) version 7.00 crashed after switching to “Flat folders view” mode from the archive subfolder;
  • c) switch -ep4 duplicated the specified path instead of excluding it when extracting;
  • d) if the archive created by the Unix RAR version contained symlinks with path separator characters in target paths, these characters could be broken when modifying such archive with Windows RAR;
  • e) An invalid file name was displayed in file rename and file execute the app error messages;
  • f) SFX “Shortcut” command failed to recognize empty parameters defined like “Shortcut=D,””,folder”, while correctly recognizing such parameters without quote marks like “Shortcut=D,,folder”;
  • g) volume reconstruction didn’t work in WinRAR.exe if the “rc” command was specified with a .rev file, such as “WinRAR rc arc.part1.rev”. Unlike RAR required to use only the .rar file name here.

Supported Operating Systems:

  • Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 11 (32-bit, 64-bit).
