eMule is a popular, open-source P2P (peer-to-peer) file-sharing client for Microsoft Windows. It allows you to connect to millions of users to download and share files with them. By using the ED2K and Kademlia Network it supports semi-centralized as well as decentralized searches and operations. All of it is free and without any adware or advertising.

EMule is one of the biggest, oldest, and most reliable file-sharing clients worldwide. Thanks to its open source policy many developers can contribute to the project, making the network more efficient with each release.

The distinguishing features of the app are the direct exchange of sources between client nodes, fast recovery of corrupted downloads, and the use of a credit system to reward frequent uploaders.

Furthermore, the application transmits data in zlib-compressed form to save bandwidth. The app is coded in Microsoft Visual C++ using the Microsoft Foundation Classes.
