Balabolka – Windows program for reading text aloud and saving it as MP3, WAV, or OGG

Balabolka is a versatile Text-To-Speech (TTS) software that utilizes all of the computer voices installed on your system. This powerful software provides a straightforward way to convert text into speech, making it a reliable solution for all your reading needs.

The software can read clipboard content and view text from CHM, DjVu, DOC, EPUB, FB2, HTML, ODT, PDF, and RTF files. It can also customize font and background color, and control reading from the system tray or by global hotkeys.

Balabolka supports multiple versions of Microsoft Speech API (SAPI), enabling you to adjust a voice’s parameters, including rate and pitch. This gives you a high level of control over the voice’s sound, making it a versatile tool for all your reading needs.

The user can apply a special substitution list to improve the quality of the voice’s articulation. This feature is useful when you want to change the spelling of words. The rules for the pronunciation correction use the syntax of regular expressions.

The software can save the synchronized text in external LRC files or MP3 tags inside the audio files. The text is displayed synchronously when you play an audio file with players on a computer or modern digital audio players, just as lyrics for songs. The on-screen text can be saved as a WAV, MP3, MP4, OGG, or WMA file.

Added the setting to fix pauses between paragraphs when reading aloud with Microsoft Online voices (the window “Settings”, the tab “Reading”).
Fixed converting subtitles to speech for SAPI 5 voices.
Fixed the use of Google TTS.
Updated the OpenSSL libraries.
Updated the lists of voices for Google Cloud and IBM Watson.
Resources for the Bulgarian, Croatian, Korean, and Vietnamese languages were updated (thanks to Kostadin Kolev, Petar Divić, VenusGirl, and Nguyễn Ninh Hoàng).
